How to Test Internet Speed Correctly

Speed tests can vary if your network is busy or device resources are constrained. Follow this checklist for repeatable numbers.

Accuracy Checklist

• Close streaming, large downloads, and backup apps.
• Test at least 3 times and use average value.
• Use same device and same location for comparisons.
• Restart router if results suddenly drop.
• Test at different times (morning, evening, peak hours).

Interpretation

One test is a snapshot. Trends over several days are more meaningful when comparing plans or troubleshooting.
